This is one song that where the rather flat mastering does not work in the song's favor: I quite liked it on "Real Love" and "Masterpiece - I think it added a lot -but here, I'd wish for just a tad more dynamism. I really like her voice: it's so matter of fact and somehow earthy here, different from the pretty folk or the strident and raw rock singing of the earlier tracks on this album. It does lend a sort of wonky psychedelia to the whole thing and it's interesting. The music is back to this sort of indie rock led by what sounds like an Ebowed guitar coupled with her own voice, and of course Adrianne's distinctive guitar playing during the verses and there's sort of a weird slowing down that happens in the song periodically whenever she sings "you could go back in time", things get real wonky - that's intentional and I"m not sure if it's something the band is doing or if they are somehow manipulating the tape in the studio or what.

The songs lyric seem to be written (in the second person) from the point of view of an aging father dealing with a teenage daughter who perhaps has an eating disorder and wishing that their relationship could go back to the way it was in her childhood as talking about it is now awkward. The "interstate" motif (a very common motif in Adrianne's songs) pops up again here, as a sort of time machine back into a different time.
